Interstate™ Worldwide Relocation Services Gives Back to the Community Through Toys for Tots For Twentieth Consecutive Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Release Date:
December 8, 2011

SPRINGFIELD, VA, December 8, 2011− Giving comes second nature to Springfield, VA-based Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services, a company known for its philanthropic efforts. But giving becomes even more meaningful when a company can touch the lives of those who live in the community it serves. For twenty consecutive years, Interstate has done just that by bringing toys to more than 100 families and 400 children living in the Barry Farms community in Southeast Washington, D.C., through the U.S. Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots Program. Barry Farms isn’t just a random choice: it holds a special place in the hearts of the Morrissette family, owners and founders of Interstate. The company was founded just blocks from Barry Farms; the spot was also the site of its headquarters until 1971; and three generations of the Morrissette’s were born and/or raised nearby.

“We have donated and helped with the toy distribution for Toys for Tots for 20 years,” comments Bud Morrissette, President of Interstate. “It has become a holiday tradition for us, and a source of joy for our employees. Everyone looks forward to seeing the smiles, and grateful and excited faces that greet us when we deliver the toys. For  most, if not for all of these children, it is the only Christmas they will experience,” adds Morrissette.

Interstate works directly with the Barry Farms Resident Council to collect toys for the children of participating families. Interstate employees volunteer alongside the Washington, D.C. police and fire departments and U.S. Marine Corp to deliver the toys on Christmas Eve each year. A special Santa and his merry elves are also on
hand for the event.

The U.S. Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots Foundation was founded in 1947, a few years after Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services. The Program’s dedication and love of helping children continues to show, even in light of the recent economic events.

The Barry Farms and Toys for Tots giving is just one of the wonderful causes that Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services supports throughout the year. As an official drop-off site, anyone interested in participating may bring toys to Interstate’s lobby from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday at 5801 Rolling Road in Springfield, VA. All donations should be made by December 20th.
