Interstate Delivers Toys For Tots In Barry Farm

(Springfield, VA) Interstate Worldwide Relocation distributed toys to children in the Barry Farm community of Southeast D.C. on December 24, 2003. Interstate, working with the Barry Farm Resident Council and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program, has provided holiday gifts to families in Barry Farm for over a decade.

Early Christmas Eve morning, a team of Interstate staff headed down to Washington, D.C., dressed up as Santa and his elves. Going door-to-door to over 89 families with gifts in hand, Santa woke the children in the neighborhood with his loud and distinct “Ho Ho Ho’s.” Despite the torrential downpour of rain, Santa and his elves pressed on, making it to 89 homes and bringing smiles to over 500 children’s faces.

“It’s so heartwarming to see the children’s faces light up when they see Santa…and then the presents,” says Interstate driver Preston Charles, who dressed up as Santa. “This is the seventh year I have participated in this event, and I truly look forward to it each and every year.”

“I was born and raised in this community many years ago, and being able to give back is tremendously satisfying for my family and I,” announced Interstate President Buddy Morrissette at the conclusion of the morning’s events.

Interstate Worldwide Relocation is a full-service relocation and transportation management company. Founded by Arthur E. Morrissette in the Southeast section of Washington, D.C. in 1943, the company’s holiday distribution of toys has been a long-standing Christmas tradition for more than a decade. Interstate is a family-owned business, currently in its third generation of leadership by the Morrissette family, and has been consistently recognized over the past 60 years for its strong commitment to its employees and the community at large - contributing resources and manpower to worthy causes including the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
