(Springfield, VA) Interstate Relocation Service, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Donald R. Tindall as Vice President - Move Management. Tindall, an industry veteran and retired U.S. Army Transportation Corps Colonel, joined Interstate Relocation, a global provider of third-party relocation and move management services, in November 2000, after a distinguished career in the U.S. Army.
In this capacity, Tindall will be responsible for day-to-day operations of Interstate's Move Management services, its government program initiatives, as well as strategic business development for Interstate Relocation Service. "Both Move Management and government program initiatives will play an integral part in the continued growth within our Relocation Service Group," stated Interstate President Arthur E. (Buddy) Morrissette. "Under Don's leadership, our experienced team of relocation professionals will continue to provide innovative relocation and move management services to fulfill the existing needs of our present customers, as well as the future needs of our government and corporate clients. And we look forward to continuing our tradition of providing quality relocation services to our country's service members."
Throughout 2001, Tindall led Interstate's team assigned to its two contracts awarded as part of the United States Department of Defense's Full Service Moving Project (FSMP). These contract awards, valued at approximately $60 million over the full five-year term, included the management of personnel and operations at eight off-site locations, as well as management of the relocations of over 10,000 service members and their families annually.
Tindall joined Interstate after supporting the Office of the Secretary of the Army as the executive officer to the Administrative Assistant. While at the Office of the Secretary, he led the development of the organization's strategic plan to reengineer the organization's structure to provide a broad spectrum of products, support and customer services, while leveraging technology to remain competitive. He formerly, headed the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office Washington Area (JPPSOWA), the largest military transportation office in the world, maintaining responsibility for moving over 100,000 households in and out of the National Capital Region annually.
Tindall earned his Master of Science in Resource Management from the National Defense University in Washington, DC, and a Masters in Education with a concentration in Educational Administration from Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in History from Lincoln University in Missouri.
Established in 1943, the Interstate family of companies today comprises a worldwide group of relocation management, transportation and logistic entities that will facilitate more than 20,000 relocations annually. The Interstate team presently consists of 300 employees and 1,000 service partners worldwide. Interstate is distinguished with ISO-9002 certification for all entities and facilities, an accomplishment achieved by less than 1% of those within its industry. Additionally, in 2001 several prestigious awards were bestowed upon the organization, including the 2001 National Capital Business Ethics Award and The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority's 2001 Blue Diamond Quality First Award and numerous Safety in the Workplace Award honors from the American Moving and Storage Association.
