Company Presented with Plaque of Appreciation to Commemorate 18 years of Dedicated Service to Barry Farm Families
SPRINGFIELD, VA—Interstate Van Lines,Worldwide Relocation Services, a premier provider of relocation management, transportation, and logistics management solutions, is delighted to carry on the annual holiday tradition of bringing joy to the local Washington DC Metro community. For the past 18 years, the Company, with world headquarters in Springfield, Virginia, has worked hand-in-hand with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots team to help generate excitement and joy in hundreds of families. On the morning of December 24, 2008, Interstate company volunteers vigorously delivered more than 2,300 toys and gifts to over 169 families and 750 children in the Barry Farm Community.
At the community event, that attracted New Channel 7 and other interested media contacts, Linda Miller, secretary of the Barry Farm Resident Council, presented Interstate with a meaningful plaque to commemorate the years of dedicated service to the community. Bud Morrissette, president of Interstate Relocation Services / Interstate International, accepted the gift on behalf of Interstate and the Morrissette family. The Company not only opened its first warehouse in Southeast Washington DC in 1943, the Morrissette family, Interstate founders, was born and raised in this community.
Bud Morrissette stated, “We thoroughly enjoy giving back to the local community throughout the year, particularly during the holiday season.” Morrissette added, “It’s so gratifying to bring excitement and joy to the children by having Santa, his Elves and volunteers visit each of the Barry Farm homes bearing special gifts. That’s truly what the season is about.”
